About US

About the Soap:

We make cold processed soap in small batches. Soapmaking is a fun process that combines chemistry and art, color and scent. Sodium hydroxide (lye) is combined with water, then emulsified into a blend of oils and butters. Scent and color are added, then the mixture is left to saponify. Saponification is an exothermic chemical reaction that turns the oil-water-lye mixture into soap! Once cut, the soap cures for six weeks. The cure time allows water to evaporate and soap “crystals” to fully form, making a harder, more gentle bar of soap.

Why Homemade Soap? Homemade soap contains natural glycerine, which acts as a humectant, drawing moisture to the skin. Soap makers are able to control their ingredients, choosing exactly what goes into the soap. Oils and butters are specifically chosen to cleanse and nourish the skin and depend on personal preference. Shea and Cocoa butters are two of our favorites.

We also make lotion bars, which combine beeswax, shea butter, and coconut oil. We live in Nevada, so dry skin is common. We’ve noticed that our lotion bars really work, especially for dry hands, elbows, knees, and feet!

Meet Kim & Dave:

Meet Dave: Dave was born and raised right here in Carson City, NV. He grew up camping, fishing, and mountain biking in the Sierra Nevada mountains. He also enjoys exploring the backcountry and taking road trips with his wife and two dogs, Charlie and Sunny. Dave left Nevada and moved to Utah for a couple years for a job opportunity, where he met Kim. Dave developed the website and assists with the whole process.

Meet Kim: Kim was born in Las Vegas, NV but grew up in Utah. She also grew up camping and fishing in Northeastern Utah. She spent several years working in Moab, UT, where she met Dave. She moved to Nevada with Dave in 2011. Kim designs and makes the soap and lotion bars.
